Arts Education, Social RX, and The Big Share

Although arts education for all students is critical every day of the year, March is a big month to promote and celebrate arts education across Wisconsin and the entire country.  Here are proclamations for Music, Art, Dance, and Theatre in Our Schools Month from Gov. Tony Evers and DPI State Supt. Dr. Jill Underly.

Learn more from the Wisconsin Art Education Association and organizations working to provide access to the arts for youths, from the Wisconsin Arts Board. Every student in Wisconsin should have opportunities for learning and expression through the arts and creativity.

In other news, we’re excited about the “soft launch” of Wisconsin Social RX this month. Create Wisconsin is proud to be a member of this statewide coalition of arts, health care, and community providers, and supportive funders, bringing this innovative and evidence-based practice to the entire state. See below for information about a series of webinars coming up, hosted by the Steering Committee and our national partner Social RX (formerly ArtPharmacy), to learn more and explore support of whole-person health through community connection throughout Wisconsin. Watch for more information about your, your organization, and community can be involved, as the project grows.

And finally … since the job of every nonprofit organization director is to find the resources to support the mission, vision, and purpose of their organization, I’ll take a moment to say thanks to all who donated to support Create Wisconsin during our recent Big Share online fundraising campaign. And, if you didn’t have a chance to donate yet, there’s still time! The Big Share portal will remain open for a few more days to accept donations, all of which will be matched up to $5,000 by a generous board member and add to our Big Share success.
