Economic impact of Wisconsin’s and national creative industries grows in 2022

3/25/24: Breaking news from the U.S. Department of Commerce and National Endowment for the Arts: the arts & cultural sector hit an all-time high in 2022 value added to U.S. economy.

The data shows that arts and cultural economic activity, adjusted for inflation, increased 4.8 percent in 2022 after increasing 10.8 percent in 2021. By comparison, the broader economy, as measured by real gross domestic product (GDP), increased 1.9 percent in 2022 after increasing 5.8 percent in 2021. Arts and cultural economic activity accounted for 4.3 percent of GDP, or $1.10 trillion, in 2022.

Nationally, the economic impact is $1.1 trillion; in Wisconsin, the impact is over $11.9 billion and 89,000+ jobs, up from $10.8 billion in 2021 and 87,000+ jobs in 2021, as reported by the Arts and Cultural Production Satellite Account.
